EQUITY STATEMENT Because LEAARC believes all families deserve equitable access to skilled lactation care, LEAARC is committed to ensuring that all communities have access to quality lactation education and skilled lactation consultants.  

LEAARC promotes the establishment of a structured, competency-based didactic standard that reflects the profession’s core curriculum. LEAARC works in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in the accreditation of educational programs in educational programs in lactation consultancy. LEAARC also provides a formal, non-governmental, peer-review process of voluntary self-evaluation through its endorsement of courses. Courses endorsed by LEAARC are among the leaders in the field of lactation and breastfeeding education.

LEAARC recognizes and honors a variety of diverse educational models, such as distance education, self-paced programs, programs within large and small institutions, college-based programs, and those that are not-for-profit and for-profit.
